Today, the European Insurance and Occupational Pensions Authority (EIOPA) published its Discussion paper on resolution funding and national insurance guarantee schemes as a follow-up to the EIOPA Opinion on the harmonisation of recovery and resolution frameworks for (re)insurers across the Member States published in 2017.

EIOPA appoints new members to its stakeholder groups
The Board of Supervisors of the European Insurance and Occupational Pensions Authority (EIOPA) has appointed new members to the Insurance
and Reinsurance Stakeholder Group (IRSG) and Occupational Pensions Stakeholder Group (OPSG). The new members will take up their appointment on 4 September 2018 and will serve a 2½ years term. The EIOPA press release can be found here.
EIOPA examines causes of insurers’ failures and near misses
Today, the European Insurance and Occupational Pensions Authority (EIOPA) published a report on “Failures and near misses in insurance: Overview of the causes and early identification” to enhance the understanding of the causes of insurers’ failures and near misses. The report is available here.
CALL FOR EFRAG TEG MEMBERS
EFRAG is looking for candidates from a wide range of backgrounds and geographical origins and welcomes all applications. In particular, EFRAG seeks candidates with user, preparer and academic backgrounds. EFRAG strives for geographical and gender balance in the composition of EFRAG TEG.
Applications, setting out the name and CV of the proposed candidate, should be sent to EFRAG no later than 8 October 2018. The full text of the call for EFRAG TEG applicants provides all the relevant details on how to apply.
Interviews are scheduled to take place in Brussels on Friday 19 October 2018 (preferred date) and Wednesday 7 November 2018 (fall back date).
EFRAG expects to be able to inform candidates about their appointment before the end of the year.
