Open those diaries and calendar apps: European Actuarial Day is returning – and you are all invited to take part, free of charge!
The first European Actuarial Day was conceived in 2021 as a virtual conference to fill the gap left by the postponed European Congress of Actuaries. The event was a great success, featuring contributions from 40 speakers from all walks of the profession and ultimately reached an audience of more than 250 participants. So we have decided it’s time to bring it back – and with 600 people already registered to attend this time, it’s set to be even better.
EAD 2023 will be held on 27 June as an online event, hosted by the AAE and organized by the European Actuarial Academy (EAA).
You’ll need to visit the EAD website for full details of the packed programme, but here we have some pointers to start getting you excited.
The event will include two fascinating plenary sessions, in which industry experts share insights and food for thought. The programme opens with the first of these, a keynote speech from Fabio Massimo Castaldo, a former Vice President of the European Parliament, who will take a broad outlook as he shares his thoughts on The current state of affairs and upcoming challenges for actuaries.
After that the day will really settle into the event theme, which is Towards the actuary of the future – build on our traditional values and be innovative in solving the current and upcoming challenges. A wide variety of relevant perspectives will be further explored in twelve sessions; these are scheduled across six time slots, during each of which two sessions will run in parallel. The contributions have been selected to appeal to all kinds of actuarial professionals, and cover subjects from cyber risks, climate concerns and bond markets to the price of wine – so everyone is sure to find plenty to interest them.
The day’s programme will close with the second plenary session, a panel event featuring renowned industry names Jutta Bopp (Swiss Re Head of Group Sustainability Reporting) and Sven Gentner (European Commission Head of Unit for Corporate Reporting, Audit and Credit Rating Agencies), along with the AAE’s own Jérôme Crugnola-Humbert as moderator. Their hot topic, Addressing major challenges: ESG and sustainability reporting, could hardly be more relevant right now. Tune in to hear them making the case that the priority strategic task for insurance companies and pension funds is to design a sustainable business model.
We recommend that all interested parties register for free as soon as possible, to fully benefit from interactive features and opportunities to connect. Don’t delay – head straight over to www.ead2023.org!
